Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

Try this St. Louis specialty

As a native of St. Louis, there are some things that I love that aren't for everyone. Toasted ravioli? The hidden gem Monte Bello's has the best if that's what you're after, although I also must suggest the garlic goodness of Salt & Smoke. Provel cheese? Yeah, most non-natives hate it, but I'd eat Imo's every week if I could! But when it comes to Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, a St. Louis tradition, I think McArthur's probably has the best.

If you've never had Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, you're in for a treat. It's the perfect holiday dessert: soft vanilla goodness, flaky edges, gooey center... It's like a yellow cake that's been transformed into a melty, comforting bar of joy. It's too rich for me to have more than a couple of bites at a time, but my family will eat a whole pan of it up!

Do you love Ooey Gooey Butter Cake? If you haven't, you may want to try it with ice cream, blending it as a shake, or getting some of it made in cookies or brownies, as many restaurants will do. How do you eat yours?
