Next Friday there are plenty of reasons to enjoy themed treats, from the Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival to the harvest full moon. It's also Friday the 13th, which means I might be baking some Jason-themed cookies for my kid's monthly party, too.
I'm very interested in the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival food, many items of which we've never tried. I know making mooncakes is pretty difficult, but I also know a few places where we might be able to find some locally. Pumpkin is traditionally served, and that's my big plan: to make some yummy pumpkin dip with graham crackers. It's super easy to make: you just mix a can of pumpkin (or pumpkin pie filling, if you don't want to mess with spices), a tub of whipped cream and a bunch of your favorite fall spices. I really like the Penzey's blend but any pie spice blend or combo of your baking spices will work! Serve it with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, etc.
Are you making anything special next weekend? If so, share your plans and recipes in the chat.
