Review of Domino's Chocolate Lava Crunch Cake

Review of Domino's Chocolate Lava Crunch Cake

The other night, neither my husband nor I wanted to cook anything for dinner. Instead, we did what any other true American family would do and ordered pizza. I chose to place the order online through my local Domino's Pizza - I'll do anything to actually avoid talking to someone on the phone. The online system is pretty smart, too. As I tried to check out, the system attempted to upsell my order by asking if I wanted to add an order of Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes for only $2.99.

Of course, I could not say no to a chocolate dessert to accompany my pizza, and I quickly clicked to accept. I've tasted several pizza franchise desserts in the past, so I was not really expecting anything great. Needless to say, I was more than pleased with the quality and taste of these little chocolaty treats.

After eating a slice of pizza, I was ready to try out these great smelling cakes. The order consisted of two lava cakes, but don't be fooled. One cake is enough for only one person. They are VERY tiny. I'm glad that we know this for the future. I would never be able to share one.

Being dessert connoisseurs, we opted to add a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to each of our treats. It was a perfect choice. The flavors blended nicely. The actual Lava Crunch Cake was wonderful. The outer part of the cake was indeed crunchy. The flavor was reminiscent to Oreo Cookies. The texture was like a freshly baked cookie. The entire dessert was more cookie-like than cake-like, which was fine with both of us. The inside of the cake was filled with a warm liquid chocolate. It was very rich and gooey. The lava oozed out of the cake just like you would expect from a molten lava cake at any restaurant.

My husband and I barely spoke a word while we devoured the cakes. They were that good. Sure, I could make something better on my own, but these were quick and easy. The next time we choose to order pizza, I know that these Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes will be on the menu.
