The case for Dump Cake

The case for Dump Cake

Easy, delicious, and cheap!
Looking for some post-holiday comfort food? Don't want to go to a lot of trouble or spend a lot of money? Then dump cakes are the answer!

I found myself talking about dump cakes with someone at a party over the holidays (as one does). It's hard to believe a dump cake could even work, much less that it turns out so delicious. But it's 100% as advertised!

For a dump cake, you literally just dump three or four ingredients into a pan or crock pot and bake it. That's all! One of the ingredients will be a box of cake mix. Usually the other ingredients include a can of crushed pineapple (for the juice and sweetness) and a stick of butter. And often the fourth ingredient will be a can of pie filling. Like this classic Cherry Dump Cake recipe from Duncan Hines.

Pioneer Woman's dump cake gets a little fancier, and she adds a Peach Dump Cake variation. (You use a can of peaches.) But it's still the classic dump cake we all know and love.

A dump cake is basically a modern take on the classic cobbler, and it's oh so delicious!
